The Best Products to Buy at Costco, Based on 1.4 Million Customer Reviews
Despite Costco’s membership price rising to $65 at the end of 2024, over 4.6 million new members signed up during 2025. Customers are drawn in not just by the warehouse prices but by the massive range of product lines that exist, beyond food to electronics, beauty products and even furniture.
To help consumers get the most bang for their buck, online lender NetCredit analyzed the customer ratings on millions of reviews of thousands of products and found the products with the highest ratings. From towels and bedding to sheds, hoodies and faux plants, here are the items that Costco customers love.
What We Did
We retrieved customer ratings on Costco’s website from more than 1.4 million product reviews across 4,700 product pages. For each product, we calculated the share of five-star reviews as a percentage of the total number of reviews of that product. We then grouped these products into subcategories and ranked them according to those with the highest percentage of five-star reviews. Key Findings: What Costco Products Do Customers Rate the Highest?
- Costco’s highest-rated electronic product is the Mac Mini M4 desktop computer, which 95.74% of reviewers have given five stars.
- The brown Monterey Bay 74″ Accent Console is the highest-rated item in the Costco furniture department, with 95.36% of reviewers awarding it five stars.
- Some 91.07% of reviewers awarded five stars to Obagi Medical Professional-C Serum, making it Costco’s most loved beauty product.
Faux plants are leading the home department category for Costco customers.
First, we identified the home products with the highest percentage of five-star customer reviews.
Faux plants are the highest-performing subcategory, with four items boasting more than nine out of 10 five-star reviews. Some 94.39% of ratings for the 12″ Hydrangea Arrangement have five stars. “It even feels lush and damp like a real flower,” writes one reviewer. “The fake water is genius.”
However, the top-rated home product of all is the Casual Living Reversible Luxe Plush Throw (94.65%) — narrowly outperforming the Pendleton Reversible Plush Throw (94.62%). Both are made from polyester; the former is available in traditional patterns, while the latter comes in more contemporary colors and patterns, and costs two-thirds more.
Baking sheets and tablecloths among kitchen favorites at Costco.
Next, we compared kitchen items.
The USA Pan Baking Sheet four-piece set (96.08%) is the highest-rated kitchen product and the most popular cookware product by nearly 5%. The next top-rated product is the Nordic Ware Naturals 2-piece Oven Crisping Pan and Rack (91.18%). “After one use I cannot get the olive oil off of the bottom pan,” complains one customer. “Cooking functionality is fine but not worth the cleaning effort.”
Tablecloths rank well, too. The Rectangular Table Cloth two-pack (94.27%) is a full-length fitted cloth that’s particularly suitable for trade shows and buffets. It is available in six colors, and customers report that it does the job just fine, if not spectacularly.
Six-foot walnut console is Costco’s highest-rated furniture piece.
Costco’s standout piece of furniture is the brown Monterey Bay 74″ Accent Console, which 95.36% of reviewers have awarded five stars. Designed for use as a sideboard and/or TV stand, the console is made of hardwood with walnut veneers. Reviewers call it “a wonderfully crafted and looking piece of furniture.”
Also well-received is the Kellen 72” Ladder Bookcase (89.52%). This five-shelf birch veneer case is made by Bayside Furnishings, and customers say it’s both steady and stylish — although there are mixed opinions on how easy it is to assemble.
Five-star reviews are hard to come by for patio products.
We found that patio products garner significantly fewer five-star ratings than most other categories. For example, no Costco shed has a hit rate above 80%. The most popular shed is the Suncast 6′ x 4′, which has just a 78.20% five-star rate. Customers say it’s easy to put together, but there are very mixed responses concerning the shed’s quality and durability.
Patio furniture tends to be higher rated than other patio products on the Costco website. The top-rated patio product is the Grand Leisure Nogales 5-piece Seating Set (96.36%). The thousand-dollar Grand Leisure Lansing 3-piece Outdoor Patio Seating Set with Deep Cushions (91.23%) is also popular among buyers: “Supportive. Well constructed. Solid cushions. Sunbrella fabric.”
Apple products top the ratings in the electronics aisle.
Costco shoppers are consistently impressed by the Apple products they buy from the store. The top five Apple products have all been awarded five stars by more than nine out of ten reviewers on Costco.com. The Mac Mini M4 desktop (95.74%) is the best-rated Costco electronic item of all. Customers say they bought this common item from Costco because of the favorable price and warranty.
In audio, the Klipsch Reference Dolby Atmos 5.0.2 Surround System (89.06%) sits narrowly outside of the 90% range, although one helpful reviewer notes that “you can buy the next step up from klipsch direct from their website for almost the same price.”
Hoodies and a ten-buck trucker jacket among top-rated clothing items.
Costco takes around $10 billion per year in clothing sales, stocking big names like Abercrombie & Fitch, Columbia and Gap alongside its store brand Kirkland apparel. Hoodies are the most loved items in the men’s section, with both the Eddie Bauer Men’s Lounge Hoodie (95.35%) and Caterpillar Men’s Hooded Sweatshirt (90.35%) claiming near-perfect five-star customer ratings on the Costco website. These are no-frills worker or lounging tops that do what they say on the tin, each coming in at under $20.
In the women’s section, another hoodie (Costco Wholesale Unisex Logo Hoodie, 88.28%) is the top-rated item. In second place is a Faux Suede Trucker Jacket by Boston Traders (88.00%). However, not all of the trucker jacket’s sub-five-star ratings are testament to the jacket itself: “I was very disappointed it didn’t work – the jacket was well made and seemed like it would be easy care,” reports one reviewer. “So three stars for workmanship but zero for fit on me!”
Skin care products win battle of the beauty aisle.
Finally, we measured the proportion of five-star ratings that Costco’s beauty products are getting. Skin care is the highest-rated area. A bottle of Obagi Medical Professional-C Serum (91.07%) is number one — it’s a widely-loved product, and customers suggest it “costs about 45% less [at Costco] than the list price elsewhere.” More to the point, “unlike other brands it doesn’t smell like hot dog water.”
Based on customer reviews, Costco’s beauty tools and accessories are less popular. Of these, the highest-rated product on the Costco website is the Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler (80.41%), with only four out of five customers giving five stars. While it’s “surprisingly easy to use, even for someone who isn’t a pro at styling,” several customers report that it broke down after just a few uses.
How to buy quality when saving money at Costco.
Costco delivers low prices by buying in bulk — but in some cases, the store reinforces those prices by stocking less expensive, lower-quality products. To stay within budget and make sure you’re not disappointed when you get your purchases home, try these tips before you buy.
- Look for Kirkland Signature goods. Kirkland is one of Costco’s store brands and is designed to provide quality at good prices. If you’re unhappy with your product, you can bring it up with Costco directly.
- Read reviews on Costco — and elsewhere. See how other buyers have rated and reviewed the product you want, and check whether their positive and negative points are relevant to your needs. Search for consumer reviews beyond Costco’s website to ensure you’re getting impartial commentary.
- Know the policy. Check Costco’s returns policy and be sure to register any product warranty policy that comes with the item. In addition to such policies, every state has its own laws on the right to return goods for a refund.
Methodology
We retrieved the customer ratings from over 1.4 million Costco product reviews across 4,700 product pages on Costco’s official website. For each product, we calculated the share of five-star reviews as a percentage of the total number of reviews of that product. We then grouped these products into sub-categories and ranked them according to those with the highest percentage of five-star reviews, removing products without at least 25 reviews.
